Wynonna Judd Says Rosie O’Donnell’s Claims That She’s a Trump Supporter Are a “Complete Assumption”

Wynonna Judd is clarifying her political stance after Rosie O’Donnell made headlines for saying Judd is the only Trump supporter she speaks to.

Judd told People in a new interview that she does not “discuss” politics and O’Donnell’s claims are a “100 percent” assumption — although she is “not angry” about the mishap.

“I’m in shock, just so you know,” Judd said. “I’ve never spoken to her about politics in my life. She doesn’t know anything about my stuff. I’m an independent.”

“I don’t know where it came [from]. It’s complete assumption,” she continued. “I heard it and I went, ‘What the…?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming. I just don’t want drama. So if there’s going to be drama [about it], I’m like, ‘Oh for crap’s sake, there’s so much going on right now in the world. Can we just love each other?’”

O’Donnell responded to Judd’s comments in a statement to People, acknowledging that she made an assumption about Judd’s political beliefs based on her prior performance at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in 2023.

“I just thought as she has performed at Mar-a-Lago that she was [a Trump supporter]. I apologize if I was wrong,” O’Donnell said.

The comedian originally claimed that Judd was the only supporter of Trump she stayed in contact with while appearing on The Tangle podcast in August. O’Donnell is a longtime outspoken critic of Trump and his administration. She moved to Ireland following Trump’s second inauguration in early 2025.

“I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow we never bring it up,” O’Donnell said on The Tangle. “I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life, with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing. And I really love her and I care about her and for some reason I’m able to put that aside when we interact.”

A frequent guest on The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Judd has maintained a friendship with O’Donnell for over three decades.
