Investigation Discovery‘s latest true crime offering marks a first for the industry. The 2026 docuseries Unmasking a Monster: Aileen Wuornos deployed an AI-mask tool to make actress Morag Peacock look exactly like the serial killer.

All three parts premiere consecutively on Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. PT/ET on Investigation Discovery (ID), available to stream live via DirecTV (with a five-day free trial), Philo (with a seven-day free trial), Sling or Hulu + Live TV.

Unmasking a Monster will also stream on HBO Max, and while the service doesn’t offer a free trial of its own, HBO Max is currently complimentary for three months with DirecTV’s Entertainment, Choice or Ultimate Signature packages. Alternatively, the Premier package, DirecTV’s top-tier Signature package, includes HBO Max at no extra cost as part of its premium channel lineup. These are both on top of DirecTV’s standard five-day free trial.
