Though we'll never support profane language, the older teen has the right to be upset. Her sister, who clearly gets what she wants more than she's told “no,” has no remorse for what's just gone down. How can there be a chance for reconciliation and mediation if one party sees itself as completely absolved from any responsibility, even though it is the main perpetrator?
This response makes the older teen's choice crystal clear and justifiable. It's her birthday, and she doesn't need to have her special day dampened by her younger sister, who clearly has no regard for her feelings anyway. The children's mother is unable to reprimand the youngest for some reason, and because of this, a sibling rivalry is born. Parenting 101: Don't do that. This might happen to you if you're not careful!
