About
Straight Girls Hanging Out vs. Lesbians Hanging Out refers to a series of memes in which an image of women making out labeled "straight girls hanging out" is compared to an image of people hanging out platonically labeled "lesbians hanging out," suggesting that straight women are more likely to hook up with each other when hanging out than lesbian women. The original version of the meme, posted to X in February 2020, uses an image of adult actresses Aidra Fox, AJ Applegate and Kenna James to represent straight women and characters from The Sopranos to represent lesbians.
The meme garnered viral spread over the following years, inspiring further examples that use different images. Screenshots of the original post have continued to spread, typically used as a reaction image, typically used to comment on queerbaiting.
