Rapid KL to offer free shuttle buses for Bahrain GP at Sepang

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 — Rapid KL, in collaboration with Sepang International Circuit (SIC), will provide free shuttle bus services in conjunction with the Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (GP) at the SIC from October 2-4.

Ninety-five buses will be deployed for the free shuttle service on a loop basis, thereby ensuring convenient and comfortable movement of visitors from key locations to the event venue.

Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Syahrul Azmir Ahmad Zaki said the special shuttle bus service to SIC would operate from three locations, namely the bus hub at Level 1 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2, the Mitsui KLIA bus hub and De-Village, Persiaran Millenia 2, Bandar Baru Enstek.

“The service will operate from 7 am to midnight on all three days, with a frequency of between 10 and 15 minutes. To complement the service, Rapid KL will also provide shuttle buses within the circuit to facilitate visitors’ movement to key locations.

“The provision of these services reflects Rapid KL’s commitment to supporting the hosting of international-standard events and encouraging the use of public transport,” he said in a statement today.

To ensure smooth and safe operations, all buses will undergo safety inspections and be monitored continuously throughout the service period.

Rapid KL personnel will be also stationed at strategic locations around the event venue to assist visitors and manage passenger movements.

He also advised visitors to plan their journeys in advance, follow instructions from personnel and queue when using the shuttle bus service.

Malaysia will host the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP at SIC, marking the first time in F1 history that a race has been relocated to another country following its cancellation.

F1 said in a earlier statement that the event, which is subject to final agreement and official approval, including from the FIA World Motor Sport Council, would be known as Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. — Bernama
