Musical ‘& Juliet’ Will End Broadway Run In January

Musical & Juliet will end its Broadway run in January, after more than four years on Broadway. 

The show, created by David West Read, reimagines the Shakespearean tragedy so that Juliet lives and is set to a pop score from Max Martin, with songs including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” and “I Want It That Way.” The musical, which is set to close Jan. 3, 2027, is the last remaining show on Broadway from the 2022-2023 season.

The show began in the UK before opening on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on November 17, 2022. The Broadway musical recouped its $17 million capitalization in 2024 (and the tour recouped in 2025), and has since grossed more than $175 million. Though capacity has remained fairly strong throughout its run, grosses have begun to trend downward over the past two years. It joins Six, another longer running musical which opened in 2021, in announcing a January closing date. 

Throughout its run, the musical has welcomed a number of celebrities making their Broadway debuts, including Chrissy Metz and Joey Fatone, both currently in the cast, as well as Charli D’Amelio, Laurie Hernandez, Kandi Burruss and Cheryl Porter. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson also had a one-night, walk-on role in the musical.

Before the show ends on Broadway run, it will welcome Kenzie Ziegler, Aly Michalka, Spencer Sutherland, Anthony Gargiula and more.
