Mom calls daughter's landlord to complain about her home decoration and modifications: ‘Things had been done that could affect the property value’

Not everything requires parental intervention, especially not once we become independent adults.

Most young adults continue to rely heavily on their parents for minor tasks, at least until they feel ready to do them themselves. Let's face it, how many of us would have loved it if our mom continued to make the phone call to the doctor's office on our behalf? Or have our dad come to fix every issue in our apartment? They are our go-to people for everything, and most of us wouldn't have come far without them by our side.

But even those of us who still call our parents to ask for help with tasks like these can tell where to draw the line. There are certain aspects in life where the last thing they need is our parents' "help". None of us wants our mom to call our boss after every issue we have at work, or come with us to a date with someone we met on a dating app, right?

To be fair, most parents won't even think of crossing these lines. They know when to help their kids and when to let them handle adulthood on their own. Without these lines, there is no way of knowing how far parents will go with the purpose of helping their children build their futures.

Take the mom below as an example of what not to do. Her daughter has just moved to her very first solo apartment, and she even decorated the place to make it feel like home. While the daughter was happy with the results, Mom had concerns. She wanted the colors of the walls to be different, she claimed the shelves were crooked, and that the curtains should be removed.

After her daughter refused to listen to her comments, Mom decided to take matters into her own hands and intervene in her daughter's life in the worst possible way: she called the landlord to complain. It is unclear how she found the landlord's number or what she thought would happen when she informed him of her daughter's modifications to the apartment. But one thing we know for sure is that the daughter should never let her mom "help" her through her young adult journey ever again…
