Apple TV is guaranteeing a second season of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.
The streamer has renewed the critically hailed series starring Tatiana Maslany. A writers room is already at work, and production is slated to begin in the first half of 2027. The pickup comes about three months after Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed concluded its first season.
“We are delighted to continue the story of MPG and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew,” series creator and showrunner David J. Rosen said in a statement. “This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email.”
Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed stars Maslany as Paula, a recently divorced woman in the midst of a custody battle with her ex (Jake Johnson). While video chatting with a sex worker, Paula witnesses what she believes to be a violent assault. Dismissed by the police, she starts investigating on her own and uncovers a possible conspiracy.
“I wanted to write a show about someone who’s going through the seconds in life,” Rosen said at a press event for the show in May. “Not the firsts. There’s a lot of shows about firsts — first job, first love. But what happens when those things don’t work out, and the existential angst you feel inside? And then try to, you know, dramatize that through a real thriller on the outside. That just was really sort of channeling, like, Hitchcock where a normal person gets pulled in some crazy, abnormal world.”
Along with Maslany and Johnson, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed stars Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace.
Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios produce the series. Rosen executive produces with David Gordon Green (who also directed the first episode) Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and Anonymous Content’s Bard Dorros.
