KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — Malaysia Day serves as a reminder that the nation was built on a covenant between the government and the people, between the regions and the Federation, and between loyalty and justice, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In a Facebook post in conjunction with Malaysia Day today, he said Sept 16 represents a commitment that must constantly be renewed to ensure no region is marginalised, no community feels alienated, and no citizen is left behind in the country's progress.
However, Anwar said it should be acknowledged that there were times when the nation’s journey had deviated, such as when racial issues were exploited, regional gaps were allowed to widen, and differences were turned into dividing walls.
"The sea may separate us, but not our national aspirations and hopes. Happy Malaysia Day!" he said. — Bernama
