Madani Mart’s master licensing push could fuel 300 outlets, says Fuziah

KAJANG, Sept 26 — Madani Mart is opening master licensing applications to companies, investors, and strategic partners with financial and operational capabilities to accelerate its retail network expansion nationwide.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said each party appointed by Yayasan Madani will have the opportunity to develop and operate up to 100 Madani Mart branches, subject to set terms and standards.

“Currently, priority will be given to three (master licensees). This means if we appoint three, it will enable the opening of around 300 outlets,” she told Bernama after opening the Madani Mart Taman Sutera branch here today.

Fuziah, who is also Yayasan Madani chairman, said the appointment and branch development rights will be awarded in phases based on capability, performance, and compliance with the conditions established by Yayasan Madani.

She said expansion through this model will begin after Yayasan Madani ensures the supply chain and pricing for about 5,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) offered by Madani Mart remain stable.

Fuziah said Yayasan Madani is negotiating with several commercial and government-owned banks to provide financing facilities up to RM50 million if required.

She added that the master licensing model was introduced to speed expansion. Opportunities to open individual outlets are still offered to ensure more entrepreneurs can join the network.

“We still want to provide opportunities to individual owners. We do not want a situation where only a select few make a profit,” she said, adding that Madani Mart aims to have at least one branch in every state legislative assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, on the opening of Madani Mart Taman Sutera, Fuziah said the third branch introduces a fresh grocery segment, including fish and vegetables, as well as bulk sales for items that do not require specific licences.

The bulk sales facility offers small traders, food operators, and stall owners options to obtain supplies in larger quantities at competitive prices, helping manage operating costs.

To date, Madani Mart operates two locations in Kuantan, Pahang, before opening in Taman Sutera, which marks the network’s first branch in the Klang Valley.

Madani Mart is a strategic partner of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in executing the Rahmah Madani Sales Programme (PJRM), with every outlet hosting at least one Rahmah Sale per month and providing payment system facilities for the Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA) programme. — Bernama
