KUALA PILAH, Oct 1 — The remand order for a 16-year-old male student detained to assist investigations into the death of a Form Two student at a school hostel in Kuala Pilah on September 25 has been extended by seven days.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the suspect’s extended remand runs from October 2 to October 8, following an order issued by the Kuala Pilah Magistrates’ Court today, Sinar Harian reported.

“The suspect’s previous seven-day remand period ends today, and police applied for an extension before the magistrate to enable further investigations,” he said.

He said police have so far recorded statements from 70 individuals, including students, teachers and coaches.

Asked whether more students had come forward claiming to have been bullied by the suspect, Alzafny said only five students had done so so far.

The media previously reported that Muhammad Idlan Fareeq, 14, was rushed to Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah after he was found unconscious at his hostel before he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victim was believed to have been assaulted with a rubber hose by two senior students, according to the report.
