Kedah fertiliser company managing director released on MACC bail

ALOR SETAR, Sept 17 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has released the managing director of a fertiliser supplier company who was remanded in connection with the delay in the distribution of Supplementary Compound Fertiliser supplies to paddy farmers in the state.

According to MACC sources, the male suspect, in his 30s, was remanded for four days until yesterday and was released after his remand period ended.

The sources said, however, the suspect must report to the Kedah MACC office every month and must turn up if called upon to assist in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong, when contacted, confirmed the matter and said the suspect had been released on MACC bail.

Previously, the MACC opened an investigation paper regarding the issue of delayed distribution of Paddy Fertiliser 3 to paddy farmers in Kedah.

The investigation paper was opened following a complaint received from the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) on August 26 regarding the delay in fertiliser supply, which has affected the needs of paddy farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area spanning 100,000 hectares. — Bernama
