This 36-year-old's teenage daughter was a superstar. She knew it, her family knew it, and her daughter's friend apparently knew it, too, except the teen girl's friend was more than a little jealous of her “friend's” successes. Vindictively, the girl took action against her friend, most likely to knock her down a few pegs, sabotaging a project she had worked on for 3 long weeks; however, she didn't expect the consequences of her pathetically malicious plan.
GET OUT.
Any parent would protect their teenager in this way; however, when this protective mother brought down the hammer on her daughter's friend, a compulsive liar, she should have anticipated some fallout on the parental side. Regardless, in the moment, and when she was watching cherry juice drip all over her daughter's project and onto the cream carpet, kicking the girl to the curb was the most mild, level-headed approach.
The malicious teenager obviously lied to her own mom, spinning a web that made her look favorable in the eyes of the pittiless, but the mom knew the truth. She wouldn't let this mean girl stomp all over her daughter's shine anymore, and after this incident, she hoped that her daughter would see that too.
Sometimes, "friends" in your teenage years are far from real friends, and instead of having your back, they sabotage you. One of my alleged best friends in high school was exactly like this girl: Envious, mean, and spiteful. For a long time, I dimmed my sparkle around her so that she would feel okay about failing classes, getting in trouble, and being a bit of a delinquent, but finally I realized that she was not only bringing me down, but she was sabotaging me on purpose.
Drop friends like that, or just hope that you have a mom who's awesome enough to teach them a lesson on your behalf.
