  • An employee found themselves increasingly irritated by a coworker with micromanaging tendencies who liked to call her team members about work when they were off the clock. She tended to call them early in the morning to ask them questions that they felt were not necessary while they were not in the office.

Eventually, they had had enough, and when she called them at 7 AM on their only day off that week, they decided that they had no choice but to block her number. They were not sure how to broach the topic with her in a professional manner.

  • Was I right to block my coworker?

My micromanager coworker calls staff a lot and it got to the point where I had to block her.

  • She keeps calling before 7/8 am on my days off and asks these obnoxious questions. She thinks she's helping us but she isn't and she doesn't fully understand she is not helping us despite the fact she thinks she is.

  • She called the other day before 7 am on my day off and my only day this week I could sleep in and I was a little ped at her for that.

  • How do I professionally tell her I've blocked her because of this?

  • Sure_Acanthaceae_348 You should never take any emails, calls or texts from coworkers outside of working hours.

  • Sad-Lab4519 Original Poster's Reply I agree with you but some time some times people get chatty. Some times if I meet someone I don't mind being a coworker friend with I'll try for a while then if it gets too much I'll block them. This got too much.

  • BarnacleKlutzy2569 Turn on do not disturb (if on iPhone). No one will be able to disturb you outside of the set hours

  • Sad-Lab4519 Original Poster's Reply Tried that. She called so much that my phone began registering her as a "regular" caller so it would. always let her through. Apple does not have an option to block specific callers between x hours. I would of blocked her from calling between 9 pm and 8 am.

  • Laszlo4711 No it does not. If your manager calls or texts outside of work hours for scheduling issue, that's one thing. Co workers who are not your boss harassing you about work issues outside of work hours is unacceptable and REPORTABLE behavior. You don't owe your PERSONAL time outside of work to anyone.

  • KlutzyBlueDuck I have a Samsung and it has the same feature.

  • Sad-Lab4519 Original Poster's Reply I have an iphone.

  • Sad-Lab4519 Original Poster's Reply Thank you glad others agree with me. Yes, I did block her. I wonder how long it will be before she realizes I blocked her. These calls were getting obnoxious.

  • mickeys_stepdad You don't. You bloc silently.

  • MrStormChaser "Please don't call me on days I'm not working. It's incredibly ride and disrespectful. Especially when it's very early in the morning."

  • Hammer_of_Shawn This. I don't understand people who complain about the time they are called. When I don't want to take calls, for whatever reason (sleeping or just don't feel like talking to anyone for any reason), my phone is on DND and does not ring. Simple.

  • Since I worked outside my 40 hours, how do I add overtime?
