Disneyland Paris is set to unleash a majestic new land inspired by the timeless classic 'The Lion King', bringing the beloved story to life in a way that will leave visitors roaring for more. The highly-anticipated area, which will be the first of its kind in Disney's global portfolio of immersive properties, is already under construction at the Disney Adventure World park, one of two parks at the French outpost. With a massive 30,000 square meter space designed to reflect the African savanna, this new land promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans of the iconic film.
Background & Context
Disneyland Paris has been on a roll in recent years, with the launch of the World of Frozen land earlier this year being a major hit with visitors. However, the resort is already looking to the future, with a string of exciting new attractions and experiences on the horizon. The 'The Lion King' land is the latest addition to this growing list, and promises to be a game-changer for the resort.
As the first Disney land dedicated entirely to 'The Lion King', this new area will offer a unique and immersive experience that will transport visitors to the world of the film. With attractions, stores, restaurants, and character interactions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The land is set to be a major draw for fans of the film, as well as for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.
Key Details
According to concept art revealed at the D23 expo in Anaheim, the ride will bring to life the iconic scene in the 1994 animated classic where Scar confronts his royal nephew. The ride will feature an animatronic Scar, which is set to be a major highlight of the experience. Visitors will also be able to explore the new 30,000 square meter area, which will be designed to reflect the African savanna.
While no opening date has been announced for the highly-anticipated area, construction is well underway at Disney Adventure World. Visitors to the park will have other attractions to look forward to in the meantime, including an 'Up'-inspired ride called Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings, which is set to open next year. In 2028, Space Mountain will be re-themed, returning to its original 1995 version 'De la Terre à la Lune' ('From the Earth to the Moon') based on Jules Verne's novel of the same name.
Michel den Dulk, VP portfolio executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, has described the new land as "an epic story that has captivated audiences for more than three decades". He added that the team is "hard at work bringing to life the beloved world of 'The Lion King', which has unforgettable villains, and thanks to an extraordinary level of detail, our guests will experience the very heart of the film's story, its emotion and thrills, in an entirely new way."
