Desa ParkCity family tragedy takes new turn as police reveal illegal investment issue alongside alleged love scam

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — Police investigating the deaths of a family of four at a Desa ParkCity condominium in Kepong have revealed that the couple had also become entangled in an illegal investment scheme, adding a new dimension to a case already linked to an alleged love scam and RM260,000 in losses and debt.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said relatives of the couple were aware of both issues.

“The family knew about the love scam problem and that they had become trapped in an illegal investment scheme.

“The allegations involving the love scam, the existence of a scammer, as well as the RM260,000 in losses and debts, are still under investigation,” he said in a statement today.

The latest disclosure broadens the financial circumstances police are examining following the deaths at the condominium in Desa ParkCity on Wednesday.

Yesterday, investigators said they were looking into whether pressure over the RM260,000 debt, after his wife allegedly fell victim to a love scam, could have driven the 48-year-old man to kill his wife, 47, and their two children, aged nine and seven, before taking his own life.

The speculation followed the discovery of a note believed to have been left by the father on the dining table of the family’s Desa ParkCity home.
