Daredevil: Born Again star Wilson Bethel is the next Hollywood star lending their voice for an audio romance.
Bethel will star in The Dead End Diner, a two-episode immersive audio romance for audio erotica app Quinn.
The Dead End Diner centers on Max (voiced by Bethel), “a killer who lives by a strict moral code of his own making out to rid the world of bad men. When he stops at a roadside diner and meets a waitress named Josie, he quickly begins to question every rule he has ever lived by. As his feelings deepen, so does the danger, and when a threat from Josie’s past surfaces, his secret life closes in on them both.“
With Quinn’s signature second-person style, the listener steps into the role of Josie for what Quinn describes as a “dark, obsessive love story – perfect for anyone who likes their love stories a little twisted.“
When asked about his reaction to Quinn reaching out, Bethel laughed and says, “My reaction was…uh, I was titillated, because I mean, who doesn’t like some spicy erotic literature, man. I may or may not have dabbled in some of it in the past, so I’m well aware of its allure and the idea of contributing to this magnificent canon was an easy yes.” He adds, “Plus, you guys are getting awesome people to do this, so good company to be in.”
Of the script Bethel says, “It seemed like a natural extension in a way of some of the work that I’ve done in the recent past. The script seemed like a really great way to channel some of that energy into a new story that feels both very different and original, while also pulling on these kinds of fun ideas of a misunderstood killer – if you know, you know.
“Wilson has built a devoted fan base by playing the characters you know you shouldn’t love, but do,” says Caroline Spiegel, founder and CEO of Quinn. “The Dead End Diner is a dark, obsessive love story, and Max is the kind of dangerous, complicated antihero Wilson plays better than anyone. We knew listeners would be hanging on every word.”
“I love women, women are the best. I want to empower women, that’s a no brainer,“ Bethel says of Quinn. “So, the idea of this app putting women’s tantalizing desires front and center was an exciting opportunity. It was my pleasure to be part of it!”
When asked about his favorite scene to record, Bethel smiled and said, “Come on, sexy time. Let’s go.”
Last month, Bethel teased a possible Quinn collaboration when writing, “Quinn called…“ with fans immediately commenting for him to pick up the phone.
