KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — The driver of a BYD Seal involved in a six-vehicle collision that killed a five-year-old girl on Jalan Kuching is still receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said investigations into the incident were ongoing, Kosmo! Online reported today.
He said the investigating officer was working to complete the probe while continuing to monitor the driver’s condition.
“Investigations are ongoing. The driver is still receiving treatment at a private hospital and the investigating officer is completing the investigation and monitoring the driver’s condition.
“The case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) as soon as possible for further instructions. Any developments will be announced,” he said in a statement today.
It was previously reported that the family of Asiah Ahmad Syahir, who died in the crash, would wait for the driver’s treatment and the police investigation to be completed before deciding on their next steps in seeking justice for the girl.
The victim’s 25-year-old uncle, Muhammad Amin Mohamad Nor Izam, said the family was leaving the investigation entirely to the police.
Asiah was pronounced dead from severe head injuries while being taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital following the collision at about 3.44pm.
Preliminary police investigations found that the Perodua Bezza carrying Asiah and her family was struck from behind by a BYD Seal.
The Bezza then spun into the right lane and collided with three other vehicles.
