Bidor petrol station shooting: Man hospitalised with bullet wound to shoulder

TAPAH, Sept 30 — A 41-year-old man was reportedly shot in the left shoulder after two gunmen opened fire on his four-wheel-drive vehicle at a petrol station in Bidor Sentral yesterday.

According to Berita Harian, Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the incident occurred at about 6.08pm after the victim drove his white Toyota Land Cruiser into the station to refuel.

“Two men believed to be armed with firearms got out of the car and fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle before fleeing,” Mohd Alwi was quoted as saying, adding that a black Honda City had stopped in front of the Land Cruiser shortly beforehand.

The victim, who was struck by one bullet, was initially taken to Tapah Hospital before being transferred to hospitals in Ipoh, including Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police forensic investigators reportedly recovered one 9mm Luger bullet, four spent cartridge cases of the same calibre and bullet fragments at the scene, while further fragments and bullet marks were found on the victim’s vehicle.

Mohd Alwi said investigators were reviewing CCTV footage from locations around Bidor and identified toll plazas as they work to establish the identities of the suspects and the motive for the shooting.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 3(1) of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
