If someone broke something of yours, would you trust them with it again? Could you be blamed if you didn't? Mistakes happen, but that doesn't mean you have to let someone make a fool of you twice. You know what they say about that…

It's important that the people around you respect your belongings. You want people in your life whom you can trust. Especially the people you live with. If you don't feel comfortable leaving them alone with your stuff, then what's the point? You don't want to live your life on guard for something bad to happen. You want to be able to fully unwind at home, able to enjoy your peace and quiet. If you have a roommate who disturbs you, then you need to evaluate their relationship with you.

Of course, stuff happens. Life has a way of taking your best laid plans and tossing them right out the window. Accidents happen, mistakes happen, and we're not bad people because of that. It's the way that we react to them that matters. If you're not willing to treat it seriously and own up to your failures, then you have some serious introspection to do. You would hate to lose your friendship with someone over something as trivial as a broken coffee maker. But if you mess something up, it's on you to fix. It's not on anyone else. And if you think it's someone else's responsibility, then you need to grow up.
