Saddle up, partner. This is not our first rodeo.
We all want to be a cowboy deep down. Be honest. Life on the range is the life for us. We want to lasso cattle and ride our trusty steeds. We want to sleep under a blanket of stars and wake up to the sound of a rooster crowing. We want to wear huge hats and spurs on our boots, and we don't want anyone to stop us. There is a freedom to the idea of being a cowboy. You only answer to yourself and to the demands of nature. It's rough, and it's rugged, but it's worthy. It's far from the confines of cushy office life and promises something a little simpler, a little more meaningful.
I think that's the reason we remain so compelled by cowboy imagery. Think of how often it appears in memes and in life. Artists are constantly returning to it as a visual reference, and it's not going anywhere. We've got cowboy on the brain, and we're not getting rid of it anytime soon. It's one of those classic archetypes that animates our imaginations and empowers us to dream of something bigger, something different. Even though most of us will never rope a steer in our lives, we can still imagine part of ourselves as a cowboy. We can use it to animate a part of ourselves when we need it to. We can let our inner cowboy say howdy.
